Hinulugang taktak has history why they called hinulugang taktak During the 16th century the residence nearby complained for boisterous sound produced by the bell during Angelus. The people demanded the local priest to remove the bell. And so the priest had to take it to the nearby river. This explains the name “Hinulugang Taktak” which means “Where the bell was dropped”The name “taktak” was derived from a church bell which was thrown into the falls in the 15th century. It was claimed that a very loud sound was heard when the huge bell was cast into the falls. The people living near the falls requested to their church leader to remove the bell to which the priest obliged. And from that moment on, the fall was named as Hinulungang Taktak.. The waterfall area has been designated as a National Park by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and is one of the two most popular tourist spots in Antipolo City, Rizal’s capital. .
Hinulugang taktak was famous water fall in Antipolo City, the prime tourist spot of old antipolo. The green leaves, smooth ambiance, healthy environment, clean surroundings, clean flowing water, sweet chirping of the birds, people enjoying playing the place. But sadly, that charming of waterfalls is no longer available. Before the hinulugang taktak opened again for people, it looked dirty waterfall and different kind of garbage that thrown by different people. According to Mr.Hubito Manalo, the care taker of hinulugang taktak. In the time of 1970’s the falls was very clean and many people are going there to swim. But it all change in 1980’s because the falls became polluted because of the waste coming from the proper town, market. I felt disappointed because they waste the beauty of the falls. But now they are making a move to bring back the beauty of the falls. I hope that someday I will see the falls clean again. Due to the falls prominence as a tourist destination and to help preserve it, the falls, and the surrounding area has been declared the Hinulugang Taktak National Park by Republic Act No. 6964 in 1990. Unfortunately, this hasn’t stopped the stream from getting polluted by upstream wastes and so it is no longer safe to swim in the falls unlike a few decades earlier. The falls itself is just for viewing and a swimming pool was constructed instead within the park area. Good thing there are efforts underway to help preserve the falls and to reduce the pollution. By renovation of the Mayor Jun Ynares, his project to clean up and beautification again of waterfalls. For the people lived here in Antipolo they are happy because it come back again the originally hinulugang taktak. Now the hinulugang taktak turned on amazing waterfalls of Antipolo City and tourist spot of many people. The old hinulugang taktak dirty now it’s very clean and it free you to swim all you want it doesn’t have a pay for it because it’s for us we all need to do is take care our nature.
I have interviewed that they first time to visit in hinulugang taktak and they amazed in beautiful views of hinulugang taktak they are taking picture. The ambiance of water fall is different, you can released your stress by smelling a good air or if you want a place that so quiet only hinulugang taktak because you only heard the sound of flowing water from waterfalls. According to this family it is the best trip in Antipolo City. We learn to take care our mother earth tried to save it because she is all we need.
